_Lyle Schilling, owner and alter ego of Papa Chilly and
Chilly the Clown, began performing professionally for families in the
Valley of the Sun in 1983. After 12 years of teaching elementary school, Lyle
resigned his teaching position and instead of running away to join the
circus, he decided to stay in Phoenix, his hometown, to perform, study
and teach his craft of clowning.
Between 1987 and 2011, he made over 6,000 appearances throughout the southwest as Ronald McDonald. He performed at schools, libraries, parades, sporting events, corporate events and hospitals. If you grew up in Arizona, you may have seen one of his educational performances at your school!
In Chicago (2008), Lyle was awarded the title of Master Clown for his performances
and contributions to the art of clowning. MORE
